Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Geneva Nettles Boston of Darlington. Mrs. Boston expired on Friday, June 24, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service for Mrs. Geneva Nettles Boston was held on Saturday, July 02, 2022 at Glorious Apostolic Church (Pocket Road). Interment at the Greater Gethsemane Garden of Rest. 

Obituary

Mrs. Geneva Nettles Boston was born in Darlington, South Carolina on January 17, 1934, a daughter of the late Ms. Ada B. Nettles.  She departed this earthly life on Friday, June 24, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness.

Geneva attended the Public School of Darlington County and was a graduate of Mayo High School.

She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at a young age and was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.

At a young age, Geneva married Mr. Herbert Boston and this union was blessed with six children. After marriage, they matriculated to Baltimore, Maryland. In Baltimore, she became employed with the Baltimore City School in the Food Service Department and could be find working in all the schools where her children attended.  After many years of service, Geneva retired. 

In Maryland, she served her Lord and mankind by being a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church as was a member of the Hospitality (Kitchen) Committee. 

In 2003, Geneva and Herbert returned to their roots in South Carolina.

Geneva was a quiet, soft-spoken person she will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Sarah Smith of the home, Jerline Boston and Angela (Frankie) Fletcher, both of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren: Theron, Keith, Lerelle, Brian, Sean, Antwan, Jimmy, April, and Derrick; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Nikia, Brooke, Paige, Keith, Jr., Jordan, Arianna, Brian, Jr., MyAshia, Chayce, Jaison, and Siir Nathan; her brother, Columbus Nettles of Baltimore, Maryland; a special nephew, Jasper Garner; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews; several  cousins, other relatives and friends.

Geneva was preceded in death by: her mother, Ada B. Nettles; her husband, Herbert Boston, Sr; her children: James Nettles, Gregory Boston, and Herbert Boston, Jr.; great grandchildren: Dominick Boston and Bre’anna Boston; siblings: Albert Nettles, Jessie Nettles, Frank Nettles and Ida Adams, and Wilson Nettles.

We love you, but God loved you best.
